The Story

Still Water Blooms was inspired by a quiet moment I came across while travelling in Denver, Colorado.

Water lilies rested across the surface of the water, surrounded by reflections and soft pockets of colour. There was something about the stillness of it that made me want to capture the moment in watercolour - a medium that felt perfectly suited to the softness and movement of the water.

Rather than painting the scene as an exact representation, I wanted to capture what stayed with me: the calm water, the scattered lilies and that feeling of finding something beautiful in an unexpected moment while exploring somewhere new.

Part of the Wanderer’s Portals collection, this piece is inspired by a real place I've travelled to, painted not as a perfect representation of the place, but as the feeling and memories it left with me.

A portal back to a quiet moment, still blooming in memory.
